Bath Community Printshop 1977-83

9th May - 27th June 2026

We’re delighted to present a collection of screenprints from the Bath Printshop archive, as part of Bath Fringe Festival 2026.

From 1977-83 the Bath Printshop occupied various premises on and around the London Road, most memorably in Longacre, above which was the Longacre Hall gig and community centre. For the cost of materials, you could screen-print posters for your band, your meeting, your campaign – and you could learn how.

We’re showing a selection of fantastic posters with a world of stories to tell – peace activism, nuclear disarmament, women’s liberation groups, alternative theatre, local gig posters and many more.

And alongside these, an excellent selection of contemporary responses from Bath Spa University illustration students – highlighting the new (and not so new) issues concerning us today.

The Art of Travel

21st March 2026 - 2nd May 2026

The Art of Travel is a collection of artworks from the eclectic archive of The Jaunt - a unique creative catalyst that sends artists on trips across the world in order to find inspiration.

The concept is satisfyingly simple - each artist is sent to a new destination and returns home to create an artwork inspired by their travels. The work is then reproduced by The Jaunt as a limited edition, handmade silkscreen print.

The Jaunt has been sending artists from all over the world, around the world, for over a decade - and has built an incredible archive of prints from artists including Cleon Peterson, Lisa Congdon, Jordy van den Nieuwendijk, Laura Callaghan and many more.

We’ve been lucky enough to select a collection of prints from the archive to present at Palette.

All works are signed limited editions and all are for sale.

The full collection is available via our Online Shop below.

20 Years of Penfold Press

Established in 2005 by printmaker Dan Bugg, the Penfold Press works regularly with a small group of creative talents to produce beautiful editioned prints. Artists work alongside Dan to develop ideas and explore the creative possibilities of printmaking, resulting in a body of work that shares a sense of joint endeavour and a celebration of the collaborative process.

The exhibition includes selected works by an amazing group of artists - a true celebration of printmaking and the work that Penfold Press have produced over the last 20 years.

Ideal Bookshelf illustrated prints

Ideal Bookshelf is the creation of American illustrator Jane Mount.

Established in 2008, Ideal Bookshelf make things for bibliophiles – with the firm belief that books make us better.

We couldn’t agree more - the selection of prints we have at Palette cover a range of curated bookshelves aligned with different themes, including collections of travel writing, poetry, adventure, feminism and books for children.

As Bath celebrates the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth this September, we of course have collections of her works too.

The prints work perfectly both as insightful reading lists and beautifully illustrated artworks.

View the collection of prints in our Gallery on the 3rd floor.

Tools, Pigment & Rust

Still lives by Claudia Newcome, 14th June - 9th August.

Focussing mainly on items from her studio, Claudia presented a collection of new works revisiting a theme started during lockdown, when she had no access to a studio and had little space to work with - singular everyday items, painted against a white backdrop, no set-up required.

Some objects are tools inherited from her grandfather, many of them covered in rust and bringing to mind the smell of the garden shed she loved as a child.

Maxine Clements

Anna Mac

Palette’s opening exhibition featured 3 artists based in the east of England who showed their work in Somerset for the first time. Maxine Clements, Georgia Green and Anna Mac each work across mediums spanning printmaking, assemblage and painting, to woven sculpture – each with their own unique approach to addressing colour, balance and texture.
